Arthur Kingsmen[1] is a member of the Mystery Skulls and a mechanic at his uncle's shop, Kingsmen Mechanics.

Arthur stands about average height with a thin build, possessing broader shoulders. He has pale skin with blonde hair that spikes backward with two strands of black hair that grow from his hairline upwards, one larger than the other.

He has a small, triangular goatee with sideburns that are accented with two orange stripes. His eyes are a similar orange shade to the accenting lines, above having two bushy eyebrows that are reminiscently heart-shaped.

His physiology is typical for someone of his build, aside from his left arm, which was amputated by Mystery after he became possessed in the cave. Instead of an organic limb, he assumingly built himself a mechanical arm that seems to have identical functionality to the remaining limb.

He's adorned with two black wristbands, a baggy white t-shirt that is layered by a puffy vest with three buttons: a star, a small blue round button, and the Mystery Skulls logo. His outfit is completed with baggy, yellow pants, and high top sneakers.

Most of Arthur's personality comes from information by Ben and his interactions in the music videos.

Easy speculation has it that Arthur has a stubborn streak when it comes to those closest to him. As seen in Freaking Out, he's deprived of sleep due to his crusade to find Lewis, working tirelessly to pinpoint his current location. He hasn't slept to the point of bags under his eyes and possibly even hallucinating Mystery in his kitsune form, although this could just be because of his tireless search for Lewis. His loyalty and dedication to his friends are also clear when he rushes Vivi to safety out of the mansion before Lewis's explosive outburst would have either injured or killed them. He may have a form of stress disorder due to Mystery ripping his arm off, as he appeared to be having flashbacks of it and reacting in panic to Mystery's presence.

Arthur is also often assumed to be the most skittish of the group. His official profile (as seen right) states that he is a 'reluctant' paranormal investigator, meaning that he may not be as fond of investigating paranormal events as his friends are. In "Ghost," he seems to be the only one scared of the cave the group entered, and he did not seem to be as enthusiastic as Vivi was when entering the mansion before the ghosts started chasing them.

Arthur was a part of a paranormal investigation group formed by his friends Vivi and Lewis, who were in a relationship at the time. Arthur appeared bitter about the couple but it's still unknown why. Things stayed this way until they had explored a haunted cave outside of town. The group decided to investigate and split up into two groups when there came a fork in the cavern. As Arthur and Lewis walked toward the edge of a cliff, a strange mist seemed to condense around Arthur at an opportune time to possess Arthur's arm and force him to push Lewis off the cliff out of jealousy. Mystery sees this and rips the arm off.

Arthur doesn't seem to remember pushing Lewis. However, Arthur constructed a prosthetic mechanical arm to replace the missing one.

Arthur, Vivi, and Mystery are driving happily until the van is shut off by Lewis and stops near an abandoned mansion. The three go into the mansion to stay the night but are scared to find it littered with ghosts. Fleeing the specters, the three run through the mansion falling through traps along the way until Arthur finds himself in a room full of coffins. Lewis appears as a ghost and threatens Arthur, who runs away in fear as Lewis chases him. At some point, he is cornered and about to be killed until Vivi intervenes and distracts him long enough for Arthur to grab her hand and the three escape and somehow drive off, leaving Lewis once again.

Freaking Out

Shiromori finds the grounds where Lewis's mansion used to be and tries to create a flower to track Mystery; before this, she created a sunflower representing Arthur that Lewis soon crushes under his foot, causing Arthur to shake at the sudden feeling. Arthur is sitting in the parked van on the highway where he lays back in exhaustion and continues his search for Lewis, whom he does not know is dead. Arthur loads up a picture of him, Vivi, and Lewis with his family at their restaurant and reminisces, but after a few minutes, Mystery gets aggressive and turns into his kitsune form, scaring Arthur. However, this is actually Arthur hallucinating from exhaustion or trauma and ends smacking himself in the head with his own laptop and falls out of the van.

Arthur continues to work on the van and finally finishes after screwing something back. He tiredly gets back into the van and looks over frightened by seeing Mystery in the passenger's seat, but soon notices he's deep in thought and appears stressed. Despite his fear, Arthur hesitantly pets him; Mystery returns this by rubbing his head against his hand as the two share a moment of genuine peace before Arthur starts the car.

Arthur drives throughout the night despite his exhaustion, until the radio starts to act up and starts to glitch, changing the radio to a different song and the van is now slowing down. Arthur anxiously attempts to get it to work again, noticing a huge truck drawing near, but fails. He slams the dashboard in frustration only to get electrocuted by the strange sparks caused by Lewis, disabling his machinal arm and hurting him quite a bit. Once he notices something in the mirror, Arthur turns around to find the truck right behind him, horrified at seeing the ghost from the mansion again, he floors the gas and goes flying down the road. Mystery gets flung into the seat due to the speed, and a car chase ensues. Arthur even attempts to go under a bridge in hopes the truck would be too big but it simply turns to smoke and reappears on the other side. As the chase continues, Shiromori appears and grabs onto the front of the van. She starts to slam her scissors into the window to break it, succeeding, and manages to give Mystery a small cut, driving her into a frenzy. Eventually, however, Lewis sends a blast of fire at the van's tire, which throws her off to be later run over by Lewis. Arthur and Mystery are momentarily relieved but the damage to the van causes it to careen off the side of the road, where it rolls toward Kingsman Mechanics and crashes into its entrance.

While Arthur is unconscious, Lewis grabs and drags him to his truck where Arthur finally wakes up and screams at which Lewis frustratingly throws him in. The truck gains more light within, revealing Arthur is inside an illusion of the cave Lewis had died in, with Lewis's ghosts screaming at him causing him to run even farther in not realizing that's what Lewis wants. As he reaches the cliff, Arthur stops himself and sighs in relief, but is cut short by Lewis grabbing his shoulder and holding him over the edge by his collar. Arthur tries to force his mechanical arm to grab on to Lewis's sleeve in a feeble attempt to protect himself, only to suddenly emit purple sparks again, which strangely causes Lewis's true face to show. The familiar face shocks Arthur and mouths his name before Lewis drops him.

The Future

Arthur falls to the stalagmites of Lewis's cave illusion while Lewis watches. However, Lewis begins to remember his own death and soon regrets it. Now not wishing to continue the cycle, the spikes below start to dissipate slightly before Lewis is shot in the chest by Lance which causes the truck to change back to its original state and Lewis's heart to hit the floor. Arthur then lands in a pile of boxes as Lewis turns to face Lance, angered by the sudden attack. Lance continues to shoot as Lewis floats towards him eventually becoming even more enraged. Arthur finally pulls himself out of the boxes, rubbing his head from the fall. He notices Lewis's locket and he hesitantly picks it up which gives Lewis a strange chill causing him to drop Lance and notice Arthur instead. Arthur stares at the locket which just shows the picture of Lewis and Vivi inside. He then looks closer and sees it change to now show the entire group, which is when Lewis aggressively grabs it from him and sees the change for himself, which causes him to break down in tears and fall to his knees.

Arthur helps carry Lance as the two climb out of what's left of the truck, disorientated. They both see Vivi in a fight with Shiromori and are caught in Shiromori's vine cascade. Lewis helps by burning the vines while Arthur runs to get his uncle somewhere safe. Once the fight is over and Mystery begins changing, Arthur's arm begins to act up and sparks again, pulling him towards Mystery's location. Arthur and Lewis run over to Vivi where the three now stand in front of a demonic, monstrous Mystery. Vivi then utters "What the fu-" before abruptly being cut off by Arthur screaming in terror, causing Lewis and Vivi to glance over at him before the video ends.

Arthur and Vivi are part of the same paranormal investigator group. They are portrayed as mutual friends and appear to worry about each other's well-being. This can be shown when Vivi tries to defend Arthur while cornered by Lewis by throwing herself directly in front of him. Arthur tugs her out of The Mansion and shoves her into the van while they are making their escape in "Ghost."

Mystery is another member of the Mystery Skulls (as well as their mascot). He and Arthur are friends, but appear to have a strained relationship at the moment due to the events from a flash back in "Ghost." Mystery was the one who saved Arthur from being entirely possessed by a mysterious entity lurking in the cavern the night Lewis died. In order to save Arthur from being fully taken over, Mystery tore off Arthur's left arm. Arthur appears to be afraid of him, most likely from the trauma of his arm being tore from his body. Despite the fear and apprehension, Arthur tries his best at comforting Mystery while driving in "Hellbent." Arthur is possibly aware of the fact that Mystery is a kitsune as seen in "Freaking Out" though it's not entirely confirmed yet.

Lewis was a member of the Mystery Skulls and friend of Arthur's before his death by a possessed Arthur's hand. Arthur does not seem to know that the skeleton in the mansion was Lewis, as he is shown to be searching for Lewis. It is unknown what Arthur remembers about Lewis' death, or if he even remembers that Lewis died at all, considering he was still searching for him during the events of "Freaking Out." However, Arthur seems shocked to discover that the ghost was Lewis in "Hellbent" right before Lewis dropped him over the edge, implying he was truly unaware that Lewis was dead and the ghost attacking him. He seems to, or at the very least tries to, reconcile with him in the next video, The Future.

??? is Arthur's possessed left arm and it is still controlled by the evil spirit. It recently left the cave scared when Shiromori showed up, and is now currently possessing Mystery.

Lance is Arthur's uncle. Arthur works at his repair shop and is thus not only his nephew but also his employee. They share their interest in mechanics, although Arthur's tinkering goes beyond cars and the likes into robotics. According to Heilos' post on tumblr, although explained as head-canonical, Lance was a father figure to him at a young age in the midst of parental conflict. Once Arthur was old enough, he moved in with his uncle, though what age that is- is not made clear. Lance cares about his nephew.[2]

Galahad is Arthur's pet hamster. Arthur built Galahad a set of wheels so the animal could move around despite being born with his lower half paralyzed. The pet doubles as an "assistant" in the shop.[3]

  • Engineering: Being a mechanic, Arthur is skilled and knowledgeable in repairing mechanical objects such as vehicles. After the cave incident, he ended up building his own functioning robotic arm, showing that he also has a talent for robotics as well. He also made a set of wheels for his pet hamster, Galahad, so he could move around despite his condition.
  • Strength: Arthur has displayed moments of physical strength throughout the series. For example, when Arthur hit the van's dashboard in "Hellbent," his mechanical arm visibly cracked and dented the surface. He's also able to carry his unconscious uncle in "The Future" one handed without any significant trouble and while running away from danger.
  • Agility and Speed: Arthur's natural speed and agility are noticeable throughout the series. Some examples: narrowly avoiding an enchanted suit of armor slicing at him with a sword, evading capture from a vengeful Lewis trying to kill him, and dodging large, tree like vines from Shiromori.
  • Endurance: Arthur is able to sprint for significantly long periods of time while being chased or running away from danger.

Arthur's Profile on Mystery Ben's blog.

  • According to Mystery Ben's Blog, Arthur's design is inspired by several different sources.[4] Arthur's outfit is a mix between Shaggy and Dipper Pines' outfits and his hair "spikes" are based on Apollo Justice's hair.
  • Arthur's height is 5 feet and 11 inches.[5]
  • Arthur's blood type is A. According to blood type personality theory, people with blood type A are thought to be earnest, sensible, reserved, patient, responsible, perfectionistic, wise, and cautious; but also fastidious, over-earnest, obsessive, stubborn, tense, the least temperate, inconsiderate, and jealous.
  • Arthur is given the independent thinker personality on a Miitomo Ben created.[6]
  • He has the strange habit of rolling his eyes back when frightened.
  • Arthur's flower that appears on Shiromori is based on a sunflower.[7] Sunflowers often represent adoration, loyalty, and longevity.
  • His instruments are synth and keytar.
  • As of Freaking Out, Arthur's, as well as the rest of the Mystery Skulls' designs (except Mystery) underwent a subtle redesign. Most notably in Arthur's case, he gained three pins on his vest and his jawline was changed as ben hated it originally.[8]
  • Arthur, as well as his mechanical arm, has shown a great amount of strength. When Arthur hits the dashboard of the van in "Hellbent", there are cracks signifying his mechanical arm is strong. He also carries his uncle in "The Future", and Helios calls this "mechanic strength".[9]
